We've owned this for around 5 years, having bought it at auction from the National Trust. It's fully fitted internally and has a mock stove with period tiling around it. The interior is wood-grained paint finished with the lantern top flooding the living space with light. To the rear is the sleeping cabin with storage below the bed. Externally the wagon has wooden wheels with iron tyres, a pan box with sliding doors, and leaf springs.

Bowtop Wagon (built by Tommy Gaskin c.1945)

Large bowtop wagon for sale.  Built post War by Tommy Gaskin.

Shafts, pan box, brake and good quality wooden wheels on iron tyres.  The whole wagon has been renovated and painted to show condition.

The interior has an original Smith and Wellstood Queen Anne Stove, but very unusually this is a Queen No. 7 and is slightly larger that most Gypsy stoves.

The inside is grained in light oak and mahogany, and painted in the style of the builder (Tommy Gaskin).

The only other person to have a wagon like this is Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones.  Wagons like this do not come up for sale very often, and this is a unique opportunity to own a piece of Gypsy history.

Model Gypsy Dray

This is a hand-built model dray made from ramin and ash hardwoods. The dray bed is burgundy, and the unders are cream. It has a curved forecarriage and double bent shafts. All the metal work is polished brass. The dray is 15" long, 7 & half wide, and 6 & half high. The shafts are 12 inches long.

This has taken over a year to make, and my models don't come on the market very often. If you appreciate Gypsy drays, then you will be proud to own this one-off model. If you can find another, you will be very lucky.

Buyer must collect in person or arrange courier uplift and any courier payment, as you can understand this is a very delicate model and must be handled with great care.

Showman Wagon

Wonderful and beautiful original showman’s wagon measuring 20' 11" x 7' 2" x 10' 6" from ground to top of roof - extensively restored in 2006 by Lancashire Architectural Antiques in Preston.

It dates from around 1890, and the original chassis and roof structure were retained. The body was completely rebuilt, as were windows and doors. The mahogany floor is original and superb. The roof was redone in calico painted layers as original. The interior was insulated between the exterior walls and the T&G relined interior. The wheels are on new tyres, and the underside is in great shape.
