Gypsy Style Caravan
Built over a 3-year period after my retirement, I was previously an apprentice-trained coach builder / panel beater / paint sprayer during the 1960s on vehicles that are
now called classics - I’ve worked on everything from luxury cars to brewery drays.
This unique Gypsy-style caravan was built onto an ALCO chassis for easy movement
around the garden. Constructed to imitate the design of a gypsy caravan, or as they
are called (vardo), but with modern extras, i.e. electrics, insulation, more comfort.
An all wooden construction, it has been hand-built and hand-painted.
The walls are 2” thick, double skinned, filled with insulation.
The floor is 4” thick, fully insulated.
The roof is 4” thick, double skinned, fully insulated and covered in
EPDM Rubber, which is used in the construction industry and
has an estimated 50-year lifespan.
There is a double bed at the rear.
The walls have been covered with a hard-wearing upholstery material.
There is a Dimplex coal-effect fire installed.
Also included is an original Queenie No. 6 woodburner fire.
A 240volt electrical system has been installed with lighting and sockets.
Total length = 25ft (7.6m)
Total height = 10ft 4” (3.15m)
Total width = 8ft (2.44m)
Internal dimensions approx:
Length = 16ft (4.80m)
Width = 7ft 8” (2.2m)
A genuine but very reluctant sale due to reasons beyond our control.
